Remission Foundation Trust
An irrevocable trust

The body remembers
how to heal.

For more than a century, medicine has recorded illness receding and wellness returning. The Remission Foundation Trust exists to ask what makes that possible, and how to support it.

The science of remission

Remission is less something done to a person, and more something a person's biology is freed to do.

What remission is

The body's own return to balance

In clinical language, remission is the reduction or disappearance of the signs and symptoms of a condition. Sometimes it is gradual. Sometimes it is called spontaneous. In every case it points to the same truth: the living body carries an innate capacity to restore balance when the obstacles to healing are removed.

The recurring theme across the remission literature is wholeness. When the whole person is supported, terrain and nutrition, structure and energy, mind and spirit, the body's own intelligence has room to express itself.

The approach

Health has roots

This is the lens the Trust has always worked through. Rather than treating a symptom in isolation, the aim is to restore the terrain in which health is the natural state: clean inputs, coherent energy, sound structure, and a settled nervous system.

Tend the roots, and living, healing, and learning accelerate together.

The Remission Foundation Trust is an irrevocable trust founded by Dr. Glen Swartwout as grantor. From 1992, the Trust ran his clinic in Hilo, Hawai'i, the southernmost and most holistic eye clinic in the United States.

It followed his earlier practice at the Hawaii Center for Natural Medicine, founded with Jacqueline Carson, ND, from about 1988 to 1992. Across both, the work centered on the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, and on the natural approaches that most consistently support the body's return to wellness. Those years of clinical observation became the foundation for the tools and teaching that continue today.

The work continues.
